Sulinger Resonator-Festival (A big thank you to Steve for making real english of my trials)
In
2000 a small group of guitar-freaks in our town of Sulingen decided to dedicate a whole day to their resonator guitars, because Sulingen has a lot of resonator guitar players and collectors in town. Nobody thought about an expansion or revival in summer 2001.
However the first "Resonator-Guitar Day" in Sulingen was a surprising success for everyone and so the decision to continue this event in 2001 was easy. The Sulinger Festival is special as it is the only
one existing in Germany, and not only provides an extensive exhibition of these guitars and workshops with professionals musicians, but also two days of concerts featuring these instruments..
The festival offers visiting musicians the possibility to play his own material in some organized sessions. Members from the Sulinger music scene like Country Rudi, Lutz Sauer, Franz Badinsky, Cäptn Blaubär and
regular guests like Steve Westaway form the backbone of the festival but unexpected guests are our Highlights.
For example 2002 Funk and Wegener, 2003 Larry O’Moan
We try to keep spontaneity in the forefront of the festival combined with the joy of playing live. We try to keep admission costs low in order to promote this unique musical festival and rely on
sponsorship and promotion support from either the various regional culture sources or from industry in order able to cover the musicians costs. Sponsors, who would like to support this Festival, are Always cordially welcome.
The Workshops are lead by experienced musicians, who explain different styles and techniques to the participants with the focal point of exchanging styles and experiences. Participants in the workshops
should not be shy about bringing along their experiences in guitar playing.
The festival follow every year this scheme:
